The most frustrating problem with the Obama White House is how slow they are on policy changes.  They really prefer a change as a function of crisis as opposed to a careful laying of the table, international summits or conferences, back room negotiations, and the announcement of a deal.  And in foreign policy the White House cannot blame the Republican House.

Over a year after this blog proposed an international summit with Iranian leaders, the initial sparring for such direct negotiations began over the weekend.  Whether there is now enough time given the approaching deadline for bombings is an open question.  No greater forum for American ideas exists than an international conference for peace.
